Living it
Sunrise is a salt marsh walk, where egrets stand perfectly still in the reeds. Morning brings a kayak through the creeks where dolphins follow the bow. Noon finds you under live oaks draped in Spanish moss, somewhere the heat doesn't reach. Afternoon is the aquarium or Brookgreen Gardens or a long drive through the cypress swamps where the trees rise from the water like cathedrals. Evening ends with binoculars on the deck, watching the herons settle for the night. The yard isn't maintained so much as curated — native plants, butterfly feeders, a trail that cuts through the back ten acres. City lights are far enough away that the stars still show themselves clear and bright.
