Living it

Waking means checking the dockline before the coffee finishes brewing. Breakfast is eaten standing on the boat because the tide won't wait for plates. Out by mid-morning, fuel and ice picked up from the dockmaster who knows exactly what you need before you ask. Fishing runs lead to hidden sandbars and lunch spots the locals guard jealously. Afternoon means a stop at a waterfront shack where the food arrives in paper trays and the beer is always cold. Docking happens as the light goes golden, the motor idling into the slip where the line's already been fed through the cleat. Evenings end with the water lapping the hull and the knowledge that tomorrow morning starts the same way.
